Google Short Script Criteria - Promoting the Growth of the Digital Economy

As part of our strategy to promote the growth of Digital Economy in Nigeria, Google is supporting prizes in the Digital Economy Category for the HomeVida 2016 Short Script Competition. The category is based on the rapid digitization of the world which has made it pertinent to encourage people to take advantage of the prospects the internet provides in a way that provides economic and social value; being mindful of protecting themselves and others whilst using this global space for personal/professional growth. It is encouraged that scripts submitted in this category explore issues that relate to Online Local Content and Online Safety.

Script writers are encouraged to develop stories that creatively demonstrate one or a combination of the following;

Ø  How the internet serves as a hub to boost creativity from various walks of life/professions.

Ø  Stories that depict the internet platform as a booster for the growth of the local economy.

Ø  Stories that creatively weave in issues of online safety.

Ø  Cyberbullying online reputation management.

Ø  Online privacy and other such related themes would also be considered

The endowment is aimed at choosing two winning scripts that best inculcate some of the values mentioned above. Thereafter, the winning short scripts shall be turned into short films. The competition is open to script writers between the ages of 16 to 30 years of age. Winners will receive a cash prize of N100, 000 and a plaque at the award night in December, 2016.
